Steven Gerrard has named his starting XI for Sunday’s Premiership game against Hamilton at the SuperSeal Stadium, and fans are stunned to see former Liverpool man Jordan Rossiter in the line-up.

The team news was posted on the official Rangers Twitter page ahead of the 1.30pm kick-off.

Rossiter has had massive injury problems since joining from Liverpool and has only made 12 appearances in over two years.

Many fans are thrilled to see him back but others are concerned about him playing on a plastic pitch.

Here are the best reactions to Rossiter’s first league appearance this season:

OPINION

Three points is absolutely essential today and Gerrard’s men can’t afford any more slip-ups in the league. A win will leave them two points behind Celtic and five points off leaders Hearts after nine games. Hamilton are struggling, with just two wins from nine games leaving them ninth in the league ahead of the 1.30pm kick-off. It’s the start of a crucial seven days in Rangers’ season, with a game against Spartak Moscow in the Europa League on Thursday, followed by a trip to Aberdeen next Sunday. Three wins would leave them in a really strong position on both domestic and European fronts. You would think that a victory against Hamilton today would be fairly routine but Rangers fans would have thought the same in the recent game against Livingston, and things didn’t go according to plan there. We really hope things go well for Rossiter too – he deserves a break after a horrific time so far at Ibrox.
