A section of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to rage about Umar Sadiq and demand that he is binned after his shocking performance against Aberdeen on Sunday.

Sadiq, 21, was handed his first start for the Gers in the BetFred Cup semi-final with both Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty unavailable.

However the forward, who is on loan from Roma, failed to show that he was anywhere near the level that Rangers demand and some fans want his temporary deal terminated at the nearest possible opportunity.

COMMENTARY:

Sadiq had an absolute shocker against Aberdeen, especially in the second-half when he was through on goal and decided to dive and try to win his side a penalty rather than having a go at goal. That one moment showed that the Nigerian is not up to scratch and these Rangers fans are correct to want him offloaded. It was always going to be a weird signing. Last season he was playing for NAC Breda in the Dutch Eredivisie. Unless it is a player from Ajax, Feyenoord or PSV then usually the Eredivise is not a very good league to judge player’s talent. Steven Gerrard and Mark Allen should be embarrassed that they actually signed this player because he is woeful. At least Pedro Caixinha and Graeme Murty had the sense to not even both playing Dalcio last season. Gerrard should have started someone else up front against Aberdeen, it was not a game to try out Sadiq and he has cost the Gers dearly.
