OPINION
Mayo is yet to break into the Rangers first team but these fans seem to think that he has the potential to one day and that his new contract shows that he can reach his potential at Ibrox. Mayo has been a regular for the club’s development sides over the last couple of seasons and if he impressed Graeme Murty enough then surely he will give Steven Gerrard the go-ahead to call him up to the senior squad. Rangers do have plenty of centre-backs at the moment though and Gareth McAuley is yet to even appear since his free transfer to Ibrox. Wouldn’t it be better to give players like Mayo a chance over someone as old as McAuley? The Northern Ireland international clearly isn’t the future of the club and it would be a massive shock to see him stay after the end of this season. Mayo has a lot of potential and could do a solid job for the side if he is offered the chance. Maybe the early Scottish Cup fixtures in the New Year will give the teenager a chance to shine.

Well done Lewis, it would be difficult to argue that this is about the best ever time to be at Rangers with the vision set down by the club. Continue to grasp this opportunity, put in the hard work, build your strength and you then you may well make it to be a 1st team regular.
