A number of Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters have been reacting negatively to attacker Diogo Jota’s performance in the 2-0 defeat to Watford on Saturday.
The Portuguese was ineffective again against the Hornets, continuing a worrying run of form that has seen him fail to adapt successfully to the Premier League.
It was a poor team display all round from Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, and Jota was the man bearing the brunt of the Wolves’ supporters’ criticism on Saturday.

Bad day at the office, Watford did a number on us in midfield and we just didnt recover from the 2 quick goals. no need to panic & certainly no need for wholesale changes but perhaps time to take Jota out of the firing line and start Cav. #wwfc

Thought costa had a decent 2nd half, fully agree with Jota – I do like him but hasn’t really done it so far this season.. love CAV – my favourite player ?
Still a great start to the season and NUNO knows what he is doing – looking forward to next game now @WolvesMAGYAR

OPINION
It’s easy to see where the Wolves fans are coming from, here. Jota simply hasn’t been the same player he was in the Championship since he’s made the step up to the top flight. Whether he needs more time to acclimatise to the Premier League or he’s just not as good as everyone thought remains to be seen, but he certainly needs to step his game up. Nuno has to start thinking about removing the 21-year-old from the starting line up because it’s just not happening for him at the moment. He was underwhelming again against Watford on Saturday, and just never really looks like scoring or creating anything of note. It’s a shame because he clearly has the talent. It was a woeful performance from the Wolves team in general against Javi Gracia’s side, and Jota certainly didn’t help proceedings. It’s never nice to point fingers at individual players, but you have to admit that the Wolves fans have a point when it comes to Jota this season.
