Wolverhampton Wanderers icon Steve Bull has said he is gutted that the international break has come around as the club continue to shock the Premier League with their performances.
Newly promoted as Championship title holders, the Molineux outfit have been one of the stories of the season, having been defeated just once, in a 2-0 defeat against Leicester City, in their opening eight games, which have included a visit to reigning champions Manchester City and runners up Manchester United.
Speaking about his old side, Bull has been raving over how impressive their performances have been as they continue to stun the top flight, but that he is unhappy the two week gap has come at a time when momentum was on their side.
Writing for the Express and Star, he said: “All the players at Wolves are preforming great. You could pick out anyone in the side, they are performing brilliantly. It is a great side with great strength and they are a pleasure to watch.
“We have certainly raised eyebrows with the football we are playing. That is great to see because football is all about entertaining the crowds. Our football has paid off so far and we currently occupy seventh. That position could earn us a place in Europe at the end of the season.
“We were on a roll in the Premier League and enjoying a snowball effect. It is a shame these fixtures have disrupted that. Last time, our players came back unscathed so hopefully that is the case this time around.”

Bull is absolutely right in saying that Wolves have been causing their opposition some real concern this season, and it is a real shame that the international break has come around. How often have we seen players suffer some sort of injury blow while with their country, or return fatigued after playing two more games in a couple of days of each other? While Wolves might not have as many players out on international duty as their Premier League rivals, just one setback is enough to disrupt the balance of the squad and that is something that Nuno Espirito Santo will want to avoid at all costs. It remains to be seen how well those outside of the starting XI can perform, with the manager having kept unwavering faith with his regular line up this season, and one man playing below the levels of the player he is replacing could be the difference between victory and defeat. Nuno, Bull and everyone else at Molineux will have their fingers crossed everyone comes home unscathed and that their bright season can continue.
