Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has confirmed that he is ready to take on West Ham in their clash on Saturday evening after fans saw the strange sight of him heading down the tunnel midway through their clash with Arsenal on Monday.

The 31-year-old played 87 minutes of the clash with the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium but the travelling fans saw their star man head down the tunnel in the second half before reappearing minutes later.

Taking to his personal Twitter account, Vardy revealed it was an illness which forced his early exit and comeback, but that he would be fit and fighting to play against the Hammers at the King Power Stadium in Saturday’s late kick off.

Opinion

It is no secret that Leicester’s main attacking outlet is Vardy and the West Ham staff and players might have been rubbing their hands together to see him forced to withdraw temporarily on Monday night. However, their hopes of seeing him sit out the clash in Leicester appear to be short lived, although it could well be that he is simply being optimistic with his post. Illness of any kind can affect the fitness of a player quite significantly and while Vardy was fit enough to feature against the Gunners, it could be that he has been left fatigued as the week has gone on. West Ham will no doubt have their fingers crossed that he is not firing on all cylinders come Saturday, otherwise their defence could be in for a real test. Vardy seems certain he is going to make things right after the defeat to Arsenal, and that is not good news for the visitors.
