Paris Saint-Germain are keen on West Ham defender Issa Diop and could potentially table an offer of £50 million, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reports on their website that the Champions League side have targeted the 6ft 4in [Transfermarkt] colossus for quite a while now after his impressive run of form this season.

The report also states that the French outfit believe they could face a battle with Manchester United for the 21-year-old, who signed for West Ham in the summer for a fee of £22 million.

Good move for West Ham?

No, absolutely not. Why would the Hammers offload one of their best talents not long after he signed? It would be absolutely pointless. Manuel Pellegrini would be mad to sell him, even if a £50 million bid came their way and the potential of a £28million profit.

Diop still has not shown everything that he has to offer, so it would be a real shame to let him leave in January – therefore he must remain at the London Stadium for as long as West Ham can keep him.

Likely to happen?

At the moment, PSG have only expressed an interest in signing Diop, so whether the £50 million that has been mooted is offered in January remains to be seen.

The Irons are unlikely to let one of their summer recruits leave so early into their contract, so the likelihood of this move happening is virtually zero.

If an offer does come West Ham’s way, then it is likely that they will reject it in order to keep hold of one of their star players.
