A number of Tottenham fans have taken to social media to drool over the performance of young striker Troy Parrott after he stole the limelight in the Republic of Ireland under-19s’ victory over the Faroe Islands.
The Tottenham prodigy was the man of the moment for his country’s youth side after netting all three goals on the way to a 3-0 victory, each of his strikes coming within 27 minutes of each other in the second half.
As a result of the 16-year-old’s display, Tottenham fans turned to Twitter to celebrate his talents, with some congratulating him while others were tipping him to follow in Harry Kane’s footsteps and become the new star striker.

Opinion
This might well have been an impressive performance from the young starlet but the supporters should not get too excited just yet. They cannot forget that this was an under-19 game against the Faroe Islands – hardly the epitome of footballing greatness – and while he might have fighting it out with youngsters a couple of years older than him, age means nothing without the talent. Parrott certainly seems to have an abundance of goal scoring ability but he needs to hone that and develop as an all round player before Spurs can even consider giving him a first team bow, and that will no doubt come in the years ahead. Still, it is a promising sign that yet another Tottenham academy star is pulling strings on the world stage, and if he can get close to how Harry Kane has performed for the Lilywhites since breaking through into the first team, then Tottenham are set for the next decade or two when it comes to strikers.
