A section of Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to call for Moussa Sissoko to be sold in January after his cameo against Barcelona on Wednesday night.

The France international failed to make the starting XI despite injuries to key midfielders but was introduced to the action after 66 minutes as a replacement for Son Heung-Min.

Many supporters were unimpressed by the contribution of Sissoko and believes he should be offloaded after an anonymous start to the campaign.

COMMENTARY:

Sissoko might perhaps not want to check his social media feed for some time. Or just block all notifications and mentions. Tottenham fans laid into him big time for his performance against Barcelona, even though their side were 3-1 down when the France international entered the pitch in a match they eventually lost 4-2. Sissoko has been a rarely-seen figure this season in which he has made just four appearances, including just two starts, in the League Cup against Watford and the opening-day Premier League win at Newcastle. It’s safe to say many followers of the Londoners have had enough of the £30million signing, with some very strong comments including “the worst player to wear a Spurs shirt”. That is clearly hyperbole, but it is difficult to see Sissoko turning around his career at the club from this point. The problem for Tottenham is there is no way they can come close to recouping the fee they spent just over two years ago. They will have to suffer a hefty loss if he is offloaded.
