Tottenham played their part in a hugely exciting game at Wembley tonight and fans were blown away again by striker Harry Kane.

He got himself on the scoresheet in the second-half to make the score 2-1 and give Spurs fans some hope in a game where they’d been outplayed in the first-half.

That was dashed out fairly soon after as Lionel Messi popped up with his almost inevitable goal – two, in fact, one either side of Erik Lamela’s second for Spurs.

The final score was 4-2 to Barcelona and that was probably a fair reflection of the game.

Here are the best reactions from Spurs fans to their talismanic striker:

OPINION

There’s no shame in losing to Barcelona home or away but Tottenham were outclassed at Wembley tonight. The Barcelona attack was breathtaking with dummies that suggested a telepathic link between players. Harry Kane showed that he can live at that level though. He’s still not back to his best but his goal was absolute vintage Kane and reminiscent of the player who was unplayable last season. He picked the ball up on the edge of the area and cut inside before curling a shot into the bottom right corner. Can Tottenham keep hold of him? They will definitely need to commit to spending money in the summer. There’s a real feeling that after taking such big steps forward over the past couple of seasons, that they’ve stagnated this campaign. Yes, they’re still able to give Barcelona a game, they’re still competing at the top of the Premier League and they were without key players through injury. But all of that is masking the fact that teams need to keep buying new players to keep themselves fresh. And someone as good as Kane will be seeking assurances that Tottenham hold the same ambitions as he does in the summer.
