Gary Lineker has made a prediction for the Tottenham v Barcelona Champions League game that will have neutrals licking their lips with anticipation.

He was asked which team he thinks will come out on top of the “Gary Lineker” derby tonight – the striker played for both sides in his glittering career.

Somewhat diplomatically he’s predicted a 3-3 draw and added a thumbs-up emoji.

OPINION

Neutrals would definitely take this scoreline. And it’s very possible that both Barcelona and Tottenham fans, managers and players would think it’s a decent result too. However, after losing to Inter Milan in their first game, Spurs really need to get something from the game. And it’s a mark of how far they’ve come that they can realistically see themselves taking all three points tonight, despite an extensive injury list keeping a number of key players out. Dele Alli, Jan Vertognhen, Christian Eriksen, Serge Aurier and Mousa Dembele are all out, but Hugo Lloris is expected to have recovered from injury to take his place in goal. That will be some relief for a beleaguered Tottenham manager who will name his line-up at 7pm tonight ahead of the 8pm kick-off at Wembley Stadium. The game is being broadcast in the UK live on BT Sports, with Lineker at the helm.
