Sky Sports and talkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino has urged Tottenham striker Harry Kane to quit the club and join Real Madrid.

The former forward claimed Kane needs to spend the second half of his career at a club where he can hoover up the trophies that his talent deserves.

Cascarino is convinced that Real would be the right destination for the Spurs talisman as he approaches peak years.

“It would make sense for Real to move for Kane, who is 25 and has five or six years on most of the other quality centre forwards around Europe, there is a void at Real for an established, world-class centre forward who can give them several goal-filled years and Kane is that man,” the Sky Sports Daily pundit told the Times.

“He has a remarkable goalscoring record but Kane has not actually won anything yet, so, unless things change dramatically at Tottenham this season, there has to be a second part of his career, which is to join one of the big clubs in world football, such as Real.

“All being well he’ll have experienced playing in Spurs’ new stadium by the end of the season, so if the chance comes in his mid-20s, he has to move on.”

OPINION

Kane’s reputation in Spain will be sky high after his outstanding performance for England in their remarkable win in Seville on Monday night. The Spurs talisman did not get on the scoresheet, but delivered an exceptional performance in which he led the line, brought others into play with superb distribution and was involved in all three of the goals. There will certainly be envious glances from Madrid to north London, especially as the Spanish club do not have a forward of Kane’s consistent goal-getting. Gareth Bale and Marco Asensio are outstanding players and would walk into most teams, but Karim Benzema is now 30 and not at the level of the Spurs academy product, whose goal record and all-round threat is far superior to the Frenchman. Given that Kane signed a six-year contract at Tottenham in June, it would take a jawdropping fee – probably of £120million-plus – to prise him from the English capital. Can Real even afford him?
