Serge Aurier has delivered a much-needed injury boost to Tottenham as he prepares to make his comeback during the international break.

The right-back, 25, has missed Spurs’ last three matches with a thigh injury as he joined a legion of first teamers at the club on the treatment table.

But Aurier gave a clear indication that he is set to return for Ivory Coast’s African Nations Cup qualifier clash against Central African Republic on Friday, as he was the nominated player chosen to speak to the media to preview the match, as reported by Football London correspondent Alasdair Gold.

Finally, some upbeat injury news for Tottenham, who have been down to the bare bones for the last few fixtures, particularly against Cardiff City and Barcelona before the international break. Aurier has rotated the right-back position with Kieran Trippier since his £25million arrival from Paris Saint-Germain in August 2017. He has not been totally convincing, with a tendency to give away needless fouls in and around the Spurs penalty box, attracting criticism from many supporters. But the Ivorian is a superb athlete, whose power and speed going forward make him a valuable asset on the right flank, particularly in matches which Spurs dominate possession. With 48 international caps under his belt, Aurier is also a key man for his country. Tottenham will be delighted that he is back in action and get some match fitness ahead of the return of the Premier League at the end of next week.
