A section of Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter to brutalise midfielder Mohamed Diame for his performance in the 1-0 loss to Brighton on Saturday.
The Seagulls secured their first away win of the season by subjecting the Magpies to yet another defeat, with Beram Kayal’s goal in the 29th minute the difference between the two sides.
Some United fans were not pleased with the display of senior player Diame, with some comments including “absolute liability”, “garbage” and “shocking footballer”.

OPINION
It is no wonder the fans are fuming at Diame here. For the duration of the season so far, he has looked a shadow of the player that he was last time out. It is like somebody else has gone and out and replaced him, as he has been absolutely woeful. It is hard not to agree with the supporters and their verdict here – why Rafa Benitez continues to play him in the midfield, we will never know. What we do know is that Diame needs to start improving, otherwise his position in the team will start being compromised. All the fans know – including these ones – that he is capable of a lot more than he showed on Saturday. The Brighton midfield completely overran him, and Benitez simply cannot allow that to happen. As one of them pointed out, Diame is “robbing a living” – and with performances like these, it is easy to see why somebody would say that.
