Newcastle United must ambitiously pursue AS Roma forward Edin Dzeko after his remarks about the Premier League revealed he might be keen to return to England.

The 32-year-old shared that while he is happy at Roma he couldn’t completely shut the door on joining a Premier League side in the future as he loved every minute of his time in the division.

“Regarding the Premier League, maybe it’s too late,” Dzeko told Sky Sports News, as quoted by the broadcaster’s website.

“You never know, I had four-and-a-half great years there, and had fun every minute of every game.

“I love the Premier League and England, so we’ll see, at the moment I’m happy in Rome.”

Dzeko may have claimed that it was too late to get a move back to England but he is clearly being modest.

The 32-year-old has been amongst the goals for Roma this season as has scored five goals in nine outings and clearly he could do a job for the Magpies if recruited.

Rafa Benitez’s side need a player who is a proven goalscorer in the Premier League to arrive at St James Park in order to bolster their chances of achieving a respectable finish in the division.

Dzeko previously scored 50 goals, while creating 24, in 130 Premier League appearances when at Manchester City and was always striking fear in his opponents defence.

The Magpies must ambitiously pursue him if there’s any chance he might return to the Premier League despite a move to Chelsea falling through last January (Source: Sky Sports) due to him wanting a contract that saw him earn £120,000 per week.

Given that the proven goalscorer doesn’t seem overly convinced anymore that a Premier League side will snap up due to his age, the Magpies must take advantage of this situation as he exactly the type of player they need.

Therefore the Magpies must at the very least enquire about Dzeko’s availability after he declared his love for the Premier League as he is exactly the type of player they need.
