Ryan Giggs claimed that Jose Mourinho could fix the problems currently occurring at Manchester United but pointed out the pressure wouldn’t go away until he did.

The Man United legend delivered his verdict on the high-profile boss and shared that there were good players at the club even though it seem to be a challenge for the club to excel currently.

“I believe they’ve got a top manager at the club, they’ve got good players and at the moment it’s a challenge,” admitted Giggs on BBC One’s Football Focus (Saturday October 13, 12:05).

Dan Walker then asked that from the outside looking in that the club looked “broken” and asked whether Giggs agreed with that assessment.

“Oh no, the quality is there, obviously the firepower is there to go out and get the top players,” the Wales manager continued.

“But yeah without a shadow of a doubt there are a few things that need fixing and yeah (when asked whether Mourinho can fix them) he can, he is a top manager but the pressure won’t go away until we stop climbing the table.”

OPINION

Giggs knows Manchester United like the back of his hand after spending many years there as player before having a temporary spell as manager. While several have been quick to criticise Mourinho’s reign at Old Trafford, the current Wales boss seems to lean towards the idea that the Portuguese senior man can turn it around. The Reds Devils’ showed fantastic fighting spirit to come back from two-goals down to Newcastle United in their latest outing to win 3-2 and perhaps Giggs is right. The result against the Magpies could have been the turning point for Mourinho’s side this season and the good results may continue to roll in once the international break is over. The fact of the matter remains that if Man United can avoid making yet another manager change then they should as stability is key to success coming back to the club. The only issue if Mourinho suffers too many poor results in quick succession then the owners hands may be tied when it comes to dropping the axe on him.
