Manchester City have been focused on buying the best talent in the world over the past few years, but attention at the club has now shifted onto their world-class academy.

The one name which is on everybody’s lips at the moment is that of England youth international Phil Foden, who has been earmarked as the next big thing for both City and the Three Lions.

Pep Guardiola rates Foden extremely highly and has been slowly introducing him into the first-team over the past season or so, with his big breakthrough surely set to come soon.

The club may however have a problem, with The Times reporting that Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and PSG are all keen to snap Foden up for themselves.

Now, there is no need for alarm yet, with Foden extremely settled at his boyhood club and his family are very happy with the way the club have handled his development.

That being said, the club must now take every preventative measure they can to avoid the disastrous situation of him leaving the Etihad at any point soon.

The Daily Star previously reported that the club were making Foden wait on a new deal, but that contract must now be forthcoming in the next few weeks.

They cannot risk Foden’s head being turned by bigger money elsewhere, especially when you consider the wealth of riches they have at their disposal.

The likelihood of the 5ft 7in maestro [Transfermarkt] leaving, as mentioned earlier, is very low, but whatever the club can do to avoid that, they now must.
