Liverpool have received a huge boost with the news that Sadio Mane is returning to training today and is in contention for the Red Star Champions League clash on Wednesday.

The claim was made by Liverpool correspondent for Goal, Neil Jones.

Mane injured his hand and had successful surgery that kept him out of the game at the weekend against Huddersfield.

OPINION

Great news for Liverpool who are struggling for goals this season. Despite their huge attacking threat they’ve only scored 13 goals in nine Premier League games, compared to 23 for leaders Man City. Ironically they’ve got the joint best defence in the league, with just three conceded. Getting Mane back for the game on Wednesday would be a big lift for Jurgen Klopp in a game they’re expected to win against Crvena Zvezda. They’re currently second in their group behind Napoli after winning one and losing to the Italian side. Then, on Saturday Liverpool host Cardiff in another game they’ll be looking for three points in. Liverpool fell foul of a few banana skins last season though and Klopp will be warning his players to guard against complacency, especially after only beating Huddersfield 1-0. The good news for Klopp is that Mohamed Salah found the next on Saturday, which should give him a boost as he tried to rediscover his electric form from last season.
