Liverpool are expected to make two changes to their starting XI for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Huddersfield.

Four of Jurgen Klopp’s first-team players have suffered fresh injuries during what was a brutal international break – Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Naby Keita and Virgil van Dijk (although the Dutchman aggravated rather than sustained his rib injury).

However, it has been reported that Salah and Mane’s injuries are not serious ones, while Van Dijk is expected to be able to play according to his international manager Ronald Koeman.

One man who started against Manchester City who is almost certain to be unavailable is James Milner.

The 32-year-old suffered a minor hamstring tear against his former club and the Saturday evening clash in Yorkshire is likely to come too soon for the £120,000-a-week (source: Spotrac) ever-present of this season.

That paves the way for summer signing Xherdan Shaqiri, 27, to make what would be just his second Premier League start for Liverpool in the number 10 role as Jurgen Klopp fields a more attacking line-up than he did in the Chelsea and Manchester City matches.

Elsewhere, the team is likely to be the same that started the goalless draw against City bar a defensive change.

Attacking right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to return to the starting XI at the expense of Dejan Lovren, with Joe Gomez shifting back cross to centre-back.
