Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are set to be fit for the team’s Premier League clash against Huddersfield on Saturday evening, according to the Times.

The newspaper claim forward Salah and defender Van Dijk took part in yesterday’s (Thursday) training session at Melwood after sustaining injuries over the international break to become injury doubts.

The Times report both players are set to participate in today’s late training session and make themselves available to start the club’s first match for 13 days.

OPINION

It will be a huge boost to Liverpool’s chances of winning at Huddersfield if they are able to call upon Salah and Van Dijk. The forward, who suffered a groin injury while playing for Egypt against eSwatini last Friday night, has not been at his best this season after his sensational debut campaign. But the 25-year-old is expected to cause havoc when he finds his mojo once again in front of goal, and he will be eager to start against one of the division’s weakest sides after tough recent assignments against strong Manchester City and Chelsea teams. As for Van Dijk, he has had an outstanding start to the season. Liverpool would have been delighted that he missed Holland’s midweek game with Belgium in order to protect a rib injury after apparently taking recent painkilling injections to reduce the pain he was suffering. Certainly, the defence takes on a far more impregnable look when the giant Dutchman is available.
