Chelsea must hold onto midfielder Cesc Fabregas despite his talents being sorely undervalued as it currently stands.

The Daily Mirror reported that several suitors were lining up for the 31-year-old midfielder, including Atletico Madrid as well as AC Milan, as his contract is set to reach it’s final six months in January.

The newspaper worryingly went on to state that due to Ross Barkley and Mateo Kovacic being ahead of Fabregas in the playing order currently then manager Maurizio Sarri may let him go.

This is suggested despite the Mirror pointing out that Fabregas has featured four times since overcoming an injury problem that derailed the start of his season.

The Blues must offer Fabregas a new deal and squash any interest from other clubs in him as he a useful asset to have.

The creative midfielder, who earns £156,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge (Source: Spotrac), may not be the first name on the teamsheet, but due to his ability to create chances from nothing, he is valuable to the club beyond belief.

Most of Chelsea’ Premier League rivals are no doubt envious of the fact the London club have an experienced midfielder like Fabregas to call upon especially when he is able to carve defences open with his passing ability.

It would near impossible to find a player of similar quality to Fabregas who would also have played in the region of 344 games in England’s top-flight.

Despite not featuring every week Fabregas is an undervalued member of the Blues squad who could easily aid their quest for silverware over the next two seasons and the London side must ensure they hold onto him for that reason.
