A section of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to drool over Lucas Torreira after his performance in their team’s 5-1 Premier League win against Fulham on Sunday.
The central midfielder played the full 90 minutes of the Craven Cottage clash alongside Granit Xhaka in central midfield as Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doubles and an Aaron Ramsey wonder goal secured a ninth consecutive win for Unai Emery’s side.
Many supporters hailed Torreira as the driving force for a hugely impressive triumph.

Little wonder the Gooner faithful are gushing over Torreira. Aged 22, the pocket battleship is a warrior who combines grit with guile. A ball of energy and tenacity, he locked down the midfield against Fulham and protected the defence in a way not seen by an Arsenal midfielder since Gilberto Silva was in his pomp. “We’ve got our Arsenal back”, sang the away supporters at the end of a five-star display. Who could blame them?Torreira made Xhaka, who has been the subject of intense criticism over the last two years, look the player he was expected to be when he signed, giving the Swiss the platform to pull the strings with laser-precise passes from all distances and angles. It has actually taken Torreira a while to convince Emery as he was on the bench for the first five league matches of the season. It could be a while before the Uruguay international returns to the sidelines.
