Mauricio Pochettino was raving about Moussa Sissoko after Tottenham’s 1-0 win against West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday.

Sissoko, 29, started just his third Premier League game of the season in the London derby game, but some fans weren’t impressed with his performance and took to Twitter to slam him.

However it seems Pochettino shares a different view about the France international after heaping praise on him after the game.

“Very honest and professional player. You know what you’re going to receive from him. Of course we can’t ask him to do different things, or things we ask other players. He gives you all he has inside,” said the Spurs manager, as quoted by Independent journalist Jack Pitt-Brooke via his personal Twitter account on Saturday.

OPINION

Spurs fans look as though they were out to get Sissoko before the game even kicked off with the ex-Newcastle midfielder causing a stir when he was named in the starting line-up. He put in a solid performance though and was probably the best that he has been this season in what was a solid win for Tottenham. Every club has their scapegoat, some are harshly treated by supporters but in most cases it is warranted. Sissoko has not played anywhere near well enough to justify his mammoth price-tag when Pochettino signed him from Newcastle last summer. It is a shame that his good performances are massive shocks to the system as for his value, he should be one of the club’s best players. Spurs need to invest in their squad players because Sissoko is obviously back-up and is obviously not good enough. Pochettino needs to have selection headaches and by the time that Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen are fully fit, he won’t have an issue starting them straight away.
