Kenny Miller was blown away by an “excellent” Ryan Kent performance in Rangers’ 3-1 win against Rapid Vienna at Ibrox on Thursday night.

The Light Blues came from a goal behind to pick up all three points and move themselves top of their Europa League group after a fantastic all-round performance in Govan.

Kent, 21, was singled out as one of the best players in the win, with ex-Gers star Miller heaping praise on the Liverpool loanee for his display.

“I thought Kent was excellent. We were highlighting him at the start of the show. What a player who can create something, his dribbling ability, he’s got two great feet, he’s quick. We’ve seen that, particularly in the second-half,” said Miller on BT Sport 3 during the live post-match analysis on Thursday night.

OPINION

Kent was fantastic for Rangers on Thursday night and Rapid Vienna really had no idea on how to cope with him other than hacking him down and giving away fouls. The 21-year-old has certainly had a mixed start to his life at Ibrox after joining on loan from Liverpool in the summer. His performances have been hit and miss, but there are no doubts about who was man of the match on Thursday, with Kent putting in his best display yet. Steven Gerrard needs to take Kent’s form and ensure that he starts him in the crucial showdown against Hearts on Sunday because the Gers boss has often rotated the winger onto the bench for Scottish Premiership fixtures. Sunday’s meeting with Craig Levein’s league-leaders is going to be a huge fixture for the Light Blues and all of Gerrard’s players need to be in their best form in order to get a win.
