Leeds United are reportedly set to hold talks with Kemar Roofe over a new deal soon, but the club must also kick-off negotiations with Mateusz Klich as soon as possible to avoid taking a gamble on the crucial midfielder.

Klich, 28, has arguably been one of the Whites’ best players this season, but there is no debate about him being the most improved player under Marcelo Bielsa, who has transformed the Poland international from fringe player to an undroppable asset in the first team.

The former FC Twente midfielder has scored four goals and chipped in with three assists in 14 appearances across all competitions this season and has shown that he is crucial in linking up the midfield and attack in Bielsa’s dynamic tactical system.

No one would have guessed how invaluable Klich was going to be this season, and that is why director of football Victor Orta must see to it that the midfielder is offered a new contract as soon as he can.

As it stands, the midfielder’s three-year deal that he signed last summer will expire in 2020, so that means that next summer, he will be in the final year of his agreement and Leeds could be forced to sell him for lower than his actual worth.

Without doubt, the Yorkshire giants must avoid any chances of this happening and tie up a new contract with the Polish ace within the coming months.

Football Insider has already reported that Klich’s team-mate Roofe is set for a new deal and although the ex-West Brom forward is getting the goals and grabbing the headlines, it’s Thomas Christiansen’s first signing at Elland Road that is the most invaluable to this squad of players.
