Leeds United are in the hunt to sign Tottenham outcast Juan Foyth, according to AS Argentina.

The Argentine news outlet claims that Marcelo Bielsa is very interested in Foyth after the London Evening Standard reported that the centre-back could leave Premier League big-hitters Spurs in the January transfer window.

It is now understood that Leeds could make a move for the former Estudiantes defender in January, with football.london reporting in the summer that he is valued at £15million.

Good move for Leeds?

Foyth would be an excellent addition for the Yorkshire giants.

Bielsa does not have a lot of strength in depth in his current centre-back options, with Pontus Jansson and Liam Cooper the only really natural players among the senior squad that can play there.

Foyth has not played a single game for Spurs this season but he was called up to the Argentina national team for the recent international break and Bielsa is surely someone who can take him under his wing and improve him.

Likely to happen?

The Standard is reporting that Foyth could consider his options in January if Mauricio Pochettino fails to hand him more game-time in the first team.

Jan Vertonghen’s recent injury has ruled him out until December and that could see Foyth play a bit more, but once Vertonghen is back, he will be back down the pecking order.

Leeds would be a good option for the £18,000-a-week (Spotrac) defender and he would definitely develop there, but he may attract interest from other Premier League clubs.
