Robert Huth has said that “Leeds would be perfect” as he looks for a new club as a free agent.

The 24-year-old former Germany international has been without a club since he left Leicester in the summer.

And, talking on Goals on Sunday on Sky Sports (Sunday, Sky Sports, 11am) Huth confirmed that he’s currently looking for a new club.

“I’ve had a few things, a few sniffs, but you know what they’re like… They’re always waiting for a better deal, a cheaper deal to come along, so at the moment it’s a bit quiet.

“I’m based in Wilmslow. Ideally local would be great as my kids are at an age now where I’m a local taxi driver, so it would be great if I could be around.

“If it’s a further distance, then it’s no big deal.”

After host Ben Shepherd said, “Leeds wouldn’t be too bad would it?” Huth replied, “It’s perfect” before going on to say how well the side was doing in the Championship under Marcelo Bielsa.

OPINION

Huth has still got a year or two left in the tank and we’re sure that he’d love to move to Leeds and play out his final move under a manager like Marcelo Bielsa. We can’t see it happening though. Huth doesn’t seem like a Bielsa player and he also seems very happy with the players that he’s got at the moment. Leeds fans were clamouring for a new centre-back over the summer but, despite facing a possible shortfall in that are, Bielsa wasn’t interested in bringing another player in. That won’t have changed now. If Huth was a 6ft 3in prolific striker then it might be a different kettle of fish. Gaetano Berardi might be out with injury still but Bielsa has Liam Cooper and Pontus Jansson marshalling the opposition from the centre of defence. We’re sure that Huth will find a new club and probably at the Championship level, but we don’t think it will be Leeds. Especially with Huth probably looking for a good final payday.
