Rangers winger Eros Grezda has said that his target for the season is to complete a domestic treble and progress in the Europa League.

The 5ft 11in Albanian [Source: Transfermarkt] arrived at the club from Europa League qualifying opponents Osijek this summer, and is dreaming big ahead of his first campaign in Glasgow.

“My targets at Rangers are simple,” he said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun. “I need to get fully fit and make sure I am in the first 11 players picked by the manager.

“And I want to make sure Rangers win all three trophies in Scotland – the league, League Cup and Scottish Cup. We also want to go as far as we can in the Europa League. I believe we can achieve all our aims.”

OPINION

This is a big shout from Grezda that is surely going to come back to bite him in the behind. The Albania international has yet to play any meaningful minutes for the club but is already talking about winning the treble. It’s good to be ambitious, of course, but Grezda appears to have taken it too far here. Winning one trophy would constitute success for Steven Gerrard in his first year in charge of the Glasgow giants, let alone winning all three domestic competitions. Grezda needs to concentrate on getting fit and earning his place in the first team, not making outlandish claims that the team will surely fail to deliver on. This campaign is all about making progress for the Ibrox side, this isn’t the year where they’re going to dominate Scottish football. Grezda is doing his teammates a disservice by placing such lofty expectations upon them, and he’d be better off keeping his mouth shut in future.
