Don Goodman blasted West Brom defender Ahmed Hegazi in the Black Country club’s 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on Wednesday night.

Hegazi, 27, almost gifted Fernando Forestieri a goal in the second-half when he for some reason attempted a Cruyff-Turn inside his own box, only to be tackled by the Owls star, who then put his shot wide.

Ex-Wolves and West Brom player Goodman was shocked by Hegazi’s rush of blood to the head, claiming that he was extremely fortunate that Forestieri failed to score.

“It’s outrageous isnt it? it really is,” said Goodman during Sky Sports Main Event’s live coverage of the game on Wednesday night. “Ahmed Hegazi is a decent enough player but that is outrageous in the extreme.

“I tell you what, lucky, lucky boy that Forestieri doesn’t finish that.”

OPINION

The biggest questions that West Brom fans must be asking themselves right now is who is their worst centre-back? Hegazi is a liability, but so are Craig Dawson and Kyle Bartley, who have all been trainwrecks in Darren Moore’s back-three. Hegazi has next to no ability on the ball so can’t move the ball out of defence that well, so who is telling him that he can pull of Cruyff-Turns inside his own box? West Brom’s attack has got everyone talking this season but more needs to said of this embarrassing defence because for all their impressive results this season, they have kept just one clean sheet in the league – and that was against Millwall at home. It wouldn’t be a disaster to see Hegazi sold in January to be honest. He was linked with leaving in the summer and if Albion could get some good money for him, they should really take it because he is a very over-rated player.
