A number of Nottingham Forest supporters have been reacting with anger to goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon’s performance in the team’s 2-1 defeat to Norwich City on Saturday.

It was a lacklustre effort from Aitor Karanka’s side, as a Timm Klose brace saw the Canaries come from behind to win after Lewis Grabban’s early strike.

And Romania international Pantilimon emerged as a target for fan anger following a hapless display between the sticks from the former Watford man.

OPINION

Saturday wasn’t Pantilimon’s finest day at the office was it? The giant goalkeeper has had a tough start to the season and it continued against Daniel Farke’s side. He didn’t seem to know what to do against Norwich. He often seemed hesitant about coming off his line, and he didn’t do well enough when parrying Jordan Rhodes’s effort into Klose’s path for the visitors winner at the City Ground. Pantilimon is a former Premier League goalkeeper; he should be doing better than this. You can understand why the Forest supporters were so frustrated by him, and there are already calls for Luke Steele to be given a run of games in between the sticks. Karanka has to look at making a change in goal because Pantilimon is costing them points. His senseless booking, as well, showed that he was rattled and the ‘keeper needs to step it up if he is to maintain his starting spot moving forward.
