France were lucky to escape with a 2-2 draw against Iceland last night and fans were blown away by Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

He kept his side in the game with a string of hugely impressive saves, not least a quadruple save from point-blank range.

France went 2-0 down after 58 minutes and the score was still 2-0 after 85 minutes. Then Holmar Eyjolfsson scored an own goal and Kylian Mbappe scored a last-minute penalty to secure a draw for the home side.

They wouldn’t have had the chance if it wasn’t for Lloris though.

He’s been criticised by Tottenham fans recently for high-profile mistakes but he was France’s saviour last night.

Here are the best reactions from fans to his display against Iceland:

OPINION

There’s no doubting that Lloris has got some world class saves in him. He proved that again last night with commentators dissecting the quadruple save that saved France and had one fan saying it was like a missing scene from the Matrix film. France and Tottenham fans were in awe of Lloris and he’ll be glad of the praise after a turbulent few weeks that has seen him make high-profile mistakes in the Champions League and his drink-driving incident. However, one France fan said what a lot of Tottenham fans have been thinking – that Lloris is “capable of being world class” but that he always has a big mistake in him. He went on to say that consistency is the problem for Lloris and that’s what Tottenham need him to find if they’ve got any hope of maintaining a Premier League title bid this season.
