Everton are reportedly in the hunt to sign Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey, who could be available for free next year – and that means that Tom Davies must start looking for a new club.

The Sun has reported that Marco Silva wants to sign Ramsey after his contract at Arsenal expires at the end of the season, with Marcel Brands working on a package to lure the Wales international to Merseyside despite interest from Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Ramsey is clearly someone who would walk straight into Silva’s starting line up thanks to his huge amount of international and Premier League experience, but that is bad news for Goodison youth product Davies.

The 20-year-old has been handed the captain’s armband this season and has become a regular in Silva’s first team, so far appearing eight times across all competitions.

However the midfielder’s form has been very poor and some Toffees fans have not held back from criticising the player both on social media and in the stands at Goodison Park.

That means that Davies must look for a new club next year because he is bound to drop well down the pecking order if Ramsey was to sign because they are two similar players, except the Gunners ace is miles better.

It could be worthwhile for Davies to find a loan move away from Goodison as there are bound to be lesser Premier League sides who will offer him plenty of first team chances, however it is best for all parties if he just tries to move on for good.

Everton could pocket a decent fee for someone who is potentially a future England international, but his value will only drop if he remains on Merseyside playing second or third fiddle to any midfielders Silva signs in 2019.
