It may already be obvious, but Cuco Martina does not appear to have much of a future at Everton.

The 29-year-old was instantly bombed out by Marco Silva when he arrived on Merseyside in the summer with Times journalist Paul Joyce reporting on his personal Twitter account in August that the right-back had been told to stay away from first team training.

A couple of weeks later, Martina had agreed terms with Stoke and joined the Championship club on loan until the end of the season.

Under Gary Rowett’s leadership, the Curacao international has started the last eight league games and it is becoming more and more clearer that he is a vital first team player at the Bet365.

However that does not stop it from being clear that Martina is a liability to Everton and he must be binned off next year when he returns from his loan at the end of the campaign.

The former Southampton right-back will still have another year left on his £35,000-a-week (Spotrac) contract and to avoid playing any of that, Silva and director of football Marcel Brands need to find him a permanent move away from Goodison Park.

Silva has already hinted that he wants Martina gone having reportedly excluded him from first team training and sending him on loan to Stoke, and given the fact that he will be in the last year of his deal next summer, getting rid of him for a fee would make a lot of sense.

Martina was woeful for the Toffees last season and will be again if he returns and ever plays for the club.

Silva will never be faced with such an easy transfer decision again in his life.
