A section of Chelsea fans have taken to Twitter to tear Willian to shreds for his performance in the 2-2 draw with Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

Willian, 30, supplied the assist for Antonio Rudiger’s goal with a sublime cross from a corner, but still, that was not enough for some of the Blues support to be completely happy with his display.

One fan went so far to say that the Brazil international is “one of the worst players ever” for his outing against Jose Mourinho’s side.

OPINION

Willian could have scored a hat-trick against Man United but would have still been blasted for his performance by some of the Chelsea fans, he’s just the weekly scapegoat at the moment. The Brazil international is not playing as well as he once was and Maurizio Sarri could definitely sign an improvement on him in January or the next summer transfer window if he wants. But the fans need to get behind Willian and stop having such an agenda against him. From the moment the line-up was announced, it was clear that Willian was going to get a hammering on Twitter. He played quite well against Mourinho’s side. He had that awful free-kick in the first-half, but the best of players do that every now and then. Just a few minutes later, Willian was crossing in the corner for Rudiger to put Chelsea ahead, but he was still getting pelters by some fans after that.
