Well-known Brentford fan Natalie Sawyer shared that the most disappointing thing in regards to Aston Villa’s recent appointments was that there have been more talk about John Terry rather than Dean Smith.

The former Sky Sports News presenter, who shares her love for The Bees in her Twitter bio, shared that her only real disappointment regarding the Villans’ making a management change was that more people had focus on Terry returning to Villa Park.

“The most disappointing thing about it really is that the fact there has been more talk about John Terry rather than Dean Smith in a way,” said Sawyer while on talkSPORT (Sunder October 14, 18:36).

The Villians confirmed via a club statement on their official website on October 10th that they had appointed Dean Smith as their new Head Coach, John Terry as their Assistant Coach and Jesus Garcia Pitarch as their Sporting Director.

OPINION

Clearly Sawyer holds no ill-feelings towards Smith leaving the club she supports to go takeover the reigns at Aston Villa. However yet it seems she thinks Smith deserves more of a fanfare now that he has arrived at Villa Park. It’s understandable why the media and a lot of the talk surrounding the Villans’ latest appointments has been focused on Terry as he has a high-profile in the game. The recently retired defender racked up 78 England’s caps during his career and lifted numerous trophies so there is a lot of curiosity surround how his transition to behind the scenes will go. Hopefully for the Villans sake Terry proves himself to be an asset to the coaching team as they need to make up ground in the race for the play-offs as soon as possible. The 37-year-old should be able to provide Smith with a vital insight into some of the players after playing alongside them last season. Hopefully this speeds up the process of Smith getting to grips with the task in hand, which allows him to make a fast start to life at Villa Park.
