Tyler Denton said that he “put out a statement” when he made his league debut for Peterborough United at the weekend, and now some fans want to see him back at Elland Road.

The 23-year-old left-back has struggled for game-time since his season-loan loan to the League One club, making just one appearance in the EFL trophy and one in the league cup.

But he impressed on his league debut and talking to the BBC he said, “I was told to put out a statement and hopefully I’ve done that”.

COMMENTARY
Tyler Denton has had to be very patient at Peterborough but from all accounts he put in an excellent performance on Saturday and he talked eloquently afterwards. Some Leeds fans are itching to start recalling their loan players such as Denton (left-back) and Lewie Coyle (right-back) after injuries to Luke Ayling (two months out) and Gaetano Berardi (unknown return) have left the Leeds squad short. However, it’s not as easy as that. if a season-long loan has been agreed there’s generally no recall clause. Even if there is, Marcelo Bielsa still has other options who would be ahead of these two in the pecking order. Denton has struggled to get in the Peterborough side and it would serve him better to stay where he is, get more starts and develop as a player. Tom Pearce may well get his chance in the first-team and Bielsa might well look to bring in recruits in January, although Patrick Bamford, Ayling and Izzy Brown should all be back then too. Leeds just need to get through to January.

And there was a Peterborough fan who was “very impressed” by Tyler Denton’s league debut as well.
