Nottingham Forest crashed out of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night and fans were fuming at the performance of midfielder Ben Watson.
Burton went two up, the first through a Saidy Janko own goal, before substitute Lewis Grabban got Forest back in the game.
A third from Burton in the 82nd minute did for Forest though despite a second from Arvin Appiah late on.
Several Forest players came in for criticism from the fans but the cries against Watson were particularly loud.
COMMENTARY
Nottingham Forrest fans weren’t expecting that last night. The League One side did an absolute number on them and they let their players know in no uncertain terms afterwards how unhappy they were. One fan wants Ben Watson’s contract terminated and others said they hoped they never saw him in the side again. However, with Jack Colback suspended for the huge game against Sheffield United at the weekend, they might well see him sooner than they want. The 33-year-old joined from Watford in February this year and has started six Championship games this season, including wins against Middlesbrough and Rotherham. He didn’t have a good game last night though and looked every bit his age. He wasn’t the only culprit though. Liam Bridcutt was another player who was slammed by Nottingham Forest fans after a night they’ll want to forget in a hurry.
