Leeds left-back Barry Douglas is back in training, according to Phil Hay and fellow YEP journalist Joe Urquhart.

They were talking on the new episode of the Inside Elland Road podcast ahead of two crunch home games this week against Ipswich and Nottingham Forest.

Urquhart said that Douglas was back in training and Hay confirmed this, although it was unsure whether he would be fit enough to make Wednesday’s game.

Leeds then host Nottingham Forest in the 5.30pm kick-off on Saturday.

They also provided an update on winger Jack Harrison, said to be suffering a muscular problem.

He is also expected to be back for the Nottingham Forest game, although again the Ipswich clash could come too soon.

OPINION

This is good news for Leeds. They need all their players back fully fit after a slump in form and Barry Douglas is a key player for Marcelo Bielsa. The return of Harrison is a boost as well although we still feel there’s more to come from a player who obviously has talent but doesn’t perform as well as he should. Harrison needs to be more direct, more confident and he needs to take on players more. Leeds playing on Wednesday is good too as it gives both players the maximum amount of time to be ready, although it sounds like both players might miss out. Out of the two it sounds more hopeful that Douglas will be back, with the player back in training. However, Bielsa might not want to rush him back and always likes giving his returning players a run-out in the Under-23s first. They play on Thursday which would seem like the most obvious return to action for the left-back. Six points from the next two games would get Leeds’ promotion push right back on track. Four points would be a decent return, but anything less would be a major disappointment.
