Oliver Burke will not be in the West Brom squad that plays Wigan at the DW Stadium on Saturday, according to the Express & Star.

Burke, 21, played for the Baggies’ Under-23s side on Friday, scoring a brace in a 3-0 win against Fulham.

The newspaper claims that the 6ft 2 (transfermarkt) Scotland international is also on a separate training regime from the rest of Darren Moore’s squad in a bid to spark his Albion career into life.

OPINION

Since signing for West Brom last summer for £15million, Burke has not really impressed that much. He is fast, direct and looks like a very raw talent, but he has not done much to prove he deserves to be starting games lately. Moore does not use a traditional right-winger in his formation as Matt Phillips has been used as a wing-back and there is no way that Burke has the intellect or the defensive work-rate to be able to play in that role. He can play up front but Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez are always going to be starting and Hal Robson-Kanu has proven that he can get the odd goal off the bench, whereas Burke hasn’t. Most fans believe Burke should be on the bench over Robson-Kanu, but what suggestion is there that Burke is a better option? Robson-Kanu has four goals off the bench in the last two seasons, Burke has none.
