Atlanta United could sell Miguel Almiron to West Ham so they can fund a swoop for River Plate winger Gonzalo Martinez, according to TyC Sports.

The Argentine news outlet claims that Martinez, 25, has a release clause worth £11.6million, and MLS giants Atlanta would be able to afford that if they cash in on Almiron.

The 24-year-old Paraguay international has been in stunning form in the MLS this season, scoring 12 goals and supplying 13 assists in 32 appearances.

Good move for West Ham?

Almiron would be a quality addition for West Ham, who have an increasing presence of South Americans at the London Stadium ever since Manuel Pellegrini took charge of the club.

The former Lanus attacker has been in superb form in the 2018 MLS season having been involved in 25 goals, so there are bound to be clubs interested in signing him in the January transfer window.

West Ham fans should pray that they are one of those clubs because the Paraguayan is someone who could really improve their current attacking force.

Likely to happen?

If Atlanta want Martinez from River Plate then they are going to have to cash in on Almiron, who is perhaps their most valuable player in terms in market value.

Will it be West Ham who are able to pry Almiron away from the MLS? This report suggests that they are the only ones who are able to but given the player’s form, a lot of clubs are going to try and sign him if Atlanta want to cash in.
