Arsenal travelled to Lisbon to beat Sporting CP on Thursday evening but many Gunners fans were angry with the performance from midfielder Mohamed Elneny.

The 26-year-old midfielder hasn’t got on the pitch in the Premier League this season, having been restricted to outings in the Europa league and League Cup.

Judging by the feedback on Twitter during the game on Thursday night, Arsenal fans don’t want to see him in the Europa League again, with one fan saying he was the worst player he’d ever seen in an Arsenal shirt.

Despite that Arsenal won 1-0 with a late Danny Welbeck goal making it a hugely impressive 11 wins in a row for Unai Emery’s side.

COMMENTARY
Elneny gets a lot of stick but it’s easy to see why. He’s not good enough for Arsenal in the Premier League and fans aren’t happy seeing him in the Europa competition either. A bit of an odd Wenger signing, from the days when the former Arsenal manager seemingly didn’t want to pay the market rate for players, he’s struggled to make an impact since he arrived from Basel over two years ago. The Egypt international has made 75 appearances for Arsenal but he’s never got on the right side of fans and it seems like his time at the Emirates should come to an end. One fan asked why he was getting in the Arsenal line-up seeing as he can’t defend and can’t pass. That’s maybe a bit harsh but he didn’t do much tonight to change anyone’s mind about him as a player. He was taken off in the second-half but the commentator thought he was still on, mistaking him for Matteo Guendouzi. Poor Arsenal fans… Even when they get rid of him they’re haunted by him.
