A section of Nottingham Forest fans have taken to Twitter to express their delight at midfielder Matty Cash’s performance in the 2-1 loss to Brentford on Saturday.
The home side initially went ahead in stoppage time in the first half thanks to a goal from Lewis Macleod, but Cash equalised in the 62nd minute after a 25-yard effort.
Brentford then secured all three points six minutes from full time through Ollie Watkins to subject Forest to their first defeat of the season.
However, some of the Reds’ supporters remained positive on Twitter despite the defeat by drooling over Cash’s display. Some comments included “best midfielder at the club” and “saved our bacon yet again.”

If John McGovern says Matty Cash is Forests best player then that's good enough for me. The guy HAS to start! #NFFC

OPINION
It is hard not to agree with the Nottingham Forest fans here in their verdicts of Matty Cash. He has clearly been one of their best performers consistently, yet he did not start in this afternoon’s clash with Brentford. His presence was missed on the pitch before he came on, and once he did, he netted a superb 25 yarder. If this display does not warrant him a start in the next fixture, than boss Aitor Karanka must be mad – saying that, it is questionable why he did not start this match. It is hard not to agree with the fans when they say that he is by far the best midfielder at their club, and if he starts every week, then they will surely be back to winning ways. He needs to be rewarded for his excellent form, and what better way to do that than giving him regular first team football.
