OPINION

This is a brilliant move from the Gers to tie Tavernier down to another improved deal. The 26-year-old has been in impressive form for the club for over a year, and he richly deserves this new contract. Despite only signing a new deal in February, new boss Gerrard obviously thought it was best to hand him another deal after making him permanent captain over the summer. The Liverpool legend has obviously been seriously impressed by Tavernier since he arrived at the club, and that is a good sign to see manager and captain gelling well. Tavernier has led Rangers to a decent start this season, with the club sitting in fourth in the league and about to head into their first European campaign in several years. It will be interesting to see how the Light Blues match up to teams like Villareal in the Europa League, as that will be a true test of their improvement so far this term.
