A section of Liverpool fans took to Twitter to destroy summer signing Fabinho for his display in their team’s League Cup 2-1 defeat to Chelsea on Wednesday night.
The Brazilian midfielder played 87 minutes of the clash at Anfield before he was replaced by Mohamed Salah with three minutes remaining as the hosts chased a late equaliser.
Many Liverpool supporters were disappointed with the contribution of Fabinho, with comments including “off the pace”.

COMMENTARY:
Jurgen Klopp has been criticised by some on social media for holding back Fabinho since his £44million summer arrival. But, on this evidence, the manager was entirely spot on in giving the Brazil international just one minute of action in the league since signing for £44m from Monaco in the summer. Klopp had said the player needed time to adjust to English football because “the game is so quick and so intense” and he was right. Deployed in front of the back four, Fabinho kept his side ticking with neat passes – 52 in all – but showed he will take time to acclimatise to the brutal demands of the Premier League. He was slow to a number of tackles and wasn’t as alert as midfield colleagues James Milner and Naby Keita in spotting danger. It appears that Fabinho needs to spend more time on the training ground getting used to how Klopp wants him to play before he can be considered for a league start.

Shocking. Fabinho was woeful too. Sloppy and slow. No wonder he hasn't featured

? Spot on. Keita and fabinho looked very much off the pace. Shaq was good. Moreno was a shambles.

Keita & Fabinho still look well off the pace required. Moreno & Mignolet still look woefully short of what is required to be in this squad.

I thought Fabinho looked like he was still in pre-season mode tonight. A bit off the pace and slow in picking his passes. Thing is Klopps record in the transfer market is unbelievable so I'm not too arsed as I bet he comes good.
