Ademola Lookman has made it clear at Everton’s Finch Farm headquarters that he doesn’t want to be at the club, according to the Mail.

The newspaper claim the 20-year-old is smarting from failing to join RB Leipzig during the summer window and is “evidently unsettled” after dropping internal hints over the “past month” he would “rather be somewhere else”.

The Mail report the January 2017 signing from Charlton has struggled to settle on Merseyside and was keen to join Bundesliga club Leipzig after a successful loan in the second half of last season.

OPINION

It will be a concern for the Toffees and their fans that Lookman still has the hump over the concerted Leipzig pursuit that failed because they did not match Everton’s asking price, which the Mirror reported was £28million plus add-ons. The German big hitters pushed hard, with their fourth bid said to have reached £25million, but the transfer did not happen and Lookman’s attitude has subsequently tested the patience of the Everton hierarchy. The young winger dazzled in Germany, scoring five goals and supplying three assists from just 575 minutes, to provide compelling evidence of the talent that persuaded ex-director of football Steve Walsh to pay £11million for him 19 months ago. He has yet to hit those same heights at Goodison after failing to build on the encouraging star to his time at the club. Yet, Lookman is young enough and certainly good enough to turn things around.
