Leeds United are set to jet out on a transfer mission to watch Kasimpasa striker Mbaye Diagne in action after holding talks with his agent over a summer swoop, according to Turkish-Football.

The football news website claim that the 26-year-old striker is set to be at the centre of attention for Leeds’ scouts in their clash with Alanyaspor this weekend, having kept a close eye on his performances already.

Standing at a colossus 6’3″ (source: Transfermarkt) the hitman has been netting at a rate of over goal a game so far, with seven strikes in his five appearances in the Turkish Super Lig.

Good move for Leeds?

If Diagne can keep up the form he is showing in Turkey if he moves to England, then he would be a good signing for Manchester City, let alone Leeds.

A strong, tall presence up top, he offers something that Marcelo Bielsa is actually lacking from his squad, with the likes of Kemar Roofe and Patrick Bamford more suited to the ball at their feet.

With the likes of Ezgjan Alioski, Pablo Hernandez and Samu Saiz able to deliver a lethal cross, the giant target man could be the game changer they need to secure promotion in the second half of the season.

Still, it would limit the opportunities of some of the younger talents at Elland Road, so Bielsa needs to make a definite decision on whether the Senegal international is good enough.

Likely to happen?

Work permit issues were said to be an issue over the summer and it is unlikely that anything has changed as of yet, although having spent time in Italy he could get over those problems soon.

If that is the case, then there is no reason why Leeds would not want to push this one through, for they certainly seem to know plenty about him after months of scouting.
