Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has included two teenage starlets without any first team game time under their belts as part of the squad travelling to Italy for the Champions League clash against Inter Milan.

The Lilywhites posted a video of the players heading onto the plane to take them to the San Siro for Tuesday’s match on their official Twitter account, with midfielder Oliver Skipp and goalkeeper Alfie Whiteman seen joining the senior squad on their journey, with 21-year-old Luke Amos making it a trio of youngsters for Spurs.

Amos has two minutes of game time in the first team, having appeared as a substitute against Newcastle this season, but the other two are complete novices.

Opinion

If any of the three young talents pictured actually get some game time against Inter it would be a huge surprise, but the experience that they will get from being part of the first team squad heading to Italy will be a big boost for all of the trio. Whiteman’s inclusion comes thanks to Hugo Lloris being ruled out through injury, and he is just back up to the more senior men between the sticks. Amos has already picked up some minutes this season and might be in with an outside chance of a substitute appearance, but things would almost have to go perfectly for Spurs if Pochettino is going to consider that. As for Skipp, he is likely to be left out of the match day squad, as some members of the travelling squad have to be, but to be among the senior side and taking part in training while preparing to take on Inter will do his development the world of good. These guys are the future of Tottenham, and Pochettino’s decision to take them to Italy shows the future is bright.
