BBC Sportsound pundit Tam McManus has slammed former Rangers striker Jason Cummings after footage emerged of him smashing up a flat and throwing a flat-screen television into a window.

Cummings, 23, spent the second half of last season on loan at Ibrox from Nottingham Forest, but he failed to earn a permanent switch to the Glasgow giants and was shipped out to Peterborough on yet another temporary deal in the summer.

And ex-Hibernian player McManus has now claimed that Rangers should be happy that the Scotland international is no longer a part of their squad as his off-field antics once again grab the headlines for the wrong reasons.

“Just seen the Jason Cummings video. Lad is an embarrassment. Rangers well rid,” he said on his personal Twitter account on Sunday afternoon.

OPINION

Cummings has always attracted attention for the wrong reasons, but up until this point, he has been in fine form with Peterborough and their fans are surely shocked to see the 23-year-old acting so irresponsibly when he should be someone who is setting an example and acting as a role model. McManus’ claim that Rangers are “well rid” of the striker is true when you see the video of him smashing up chairs and TVs, but when you look at his record in front of goal, there are bound to be some fans who are gutted that he didn’t do that for the Gers. Cummings scored six goals in 18 appearances across all competitions for the Light Blues last season, but just two of them were in the Scottish Premiership. Since joining Peterborough on loan, he has netted six goals in six League One fixtures and won the League One player of the month award for August. The Scotland international needs to just get his head down and grab headlines for what he does on the pitch, because at the moment, he is in the best form he has been in for a while.
