Chris Sutton was left lavishing praise on Rangers duo Ryan Kent and Lassana Coulibaly after their performances in the 4-0 win over Dundee earned them a place in the former Celtic star’s team of the week.

The pair, who were both new signings this summer, scored 10 minutes apart from each other to give Steven Gerrard’s men a 2-0 lead in the opening 15 minutes, and continued to impress as their team mates netted another brace to secure a convincing victory at Ibrox.

There was another face from Glasgow in the team, with Sutton throwing in Celtic’s Scott Brown after he helped the Hoops keep a clean sheet away to St Mirren in a 0-0 draw.

Revealing the team of the week on his personal Twitter account, Sutton said: “Wow what a team this is. Hard to argue with…”

Opinion

There will be few Rangers fans out there who will be arguing with the pundit’s selections, although they might be feeling as though Alfredo Morelos was worthy of a place after seeing the Colombian set up two of the four goals at Ibrox, while he had another effort controversially ruled out for offside. However, the Celtic supporters will not be so sure their former star has got it right with Brown’s inclusion, although Sutton’s argument will be that he carried the side after seeing Olivier Ntcham sent off before half time. What is interesting is that there are only three players from the two giants of Scottish football among the 11 chosen by Sutton. Is this a sign that the Glasgow rivals’ dominance over the country is waning? The other question to ask is how many of those impressing Sutton this week will be lining up in either light blue or green and white hoops in the future? The likes of John Souttar have been linked with a move to Parkhead, and continuing to dazzle will only ramp up the interest.
