OPINION

It shows the progress that Rangers have made that a player like Morelos wanted to stay at the club amidst interest from a fairly big European team in Bordeaux. The club have moved forward this summer, and the fans are clearly ecstatic. There’s been near universal celebration following the announcement of the 22-year-old’s new contract, with Rangers supporters everywhere eager to give the Colombian their congratulations. Their happiness is understandable. Morelos scored 18 goals in all competitions for the club last season, and at just 22 years of age there is plenty of time for him to kick on and improve even further. If he can just keep his head and cut down on the red cards then he will go on to have a terrific career at Ibrox. Tying him down until 2022 is a big deal for the Glasgow giants, and Rangers fans are right to be happy.
